Hi,
I am trying to find a way to find out about the elementary schools in Arlington since we are relocating from out of state. I was hoping to post on the Arlington parents listserve. Did you happen to figure out how to subscribe to this group or if it is even still running?

Any help would be great!

Vanessa

My husband and I have moved to Arlington, MA recently. We have a 3 year old son and we are looking for a preschool for him. We both work full time - so prefer year round preschool but will consider school year too if its very good. Any recommendations are welcomed. We are open to Belmont, Lexington and Burlington as well. Thank you.

Hi there,

I wanted to send my usual e-mail to the Arlington parents list for a Spy Pond fishing event, needed to subscribe to do so, and… I can't even go to the arlparents.org Web site, which apparently no longer exists.

Help? Does this list still exist? If yes, how do I subscribe? Or was the list subsumed by the more general Arlington list?

Also they will come into your house as larvae or even grown moths. I once freaked out, when I bought some brown basmati rice and there were live and dead pantry moths (also called Indian Meal Moths) inside the rice when I opened the sealed packet !! They must have hatched on route to the store. After the clean out and discard of old foodstuffs, double bag everything with ziplock bags also. Cereal, nuts, flour, dry fruit, etc., especially.

They are common in old houses in MA. You should take all food out of pantry, have a vacuum cleaner handy, nearby, such as a Shopvac to catch any moths that take off, and clean the shelves with a baking soda and dish detergent solution. After that wipe all surfaces with white vinegar. Keep a bottle of Windex handy. You can zap them with that, too. Throw away all old foodstuff and check everything thoroughly. They will get into rice, even with a screwcap. If there are no visible larvae or moths, you can put your cereal, rice, etc. in the freezer for 5 days to be sure. Then you can buy pantry moth traps such as by "Catchmaster" or "Pro-Pest". Non-toxic Aunt Norma's Pantry Moth Spray is apparently a good cleaner. You could make your own out of white vinegar and "Easyclean" from Brewer's Emporium. It is a few dollars for a small can and it is non-toxic. You only need one teaspoon of the powder per pint of vinegar. Also I heard of putting out bay leaves and mint oil, around the food pantry.

[Actually, someone posted this question by creating a whole new Wiki page. It properly belongs as a discussion here in the Forum, so I'm reposting the question here on their behalf.]
